Ukraine opens probe into Russia's alleged killing of four prisoners of war
Ukraine has opened a war crime investigation into the alleged killing of four soldiers captured by Russian forces, according to the Ukrainian parliament's human rights commissioner. Dmytro Lubinets wrote on X on Thursday that the four prisoners of war had no weapons as they walked out of a destroyed building with "their hands raised". "They were shot dead on the spot. This is a clear violation of the Geneva Convention and a grave war crime," he added. The alleged killing of the soldiers is believed to have occurred on March 13 in the southern Ukrainian village of Piatykhatky, according to The Associated Press news agency, which verified drone footage of the troops.

Hamas admits 'painful, distressing' losses after Israeli video shows terrorist Sinwar moments before his death
Hamas on Friday is admitting to suffering "very painful and distressing" losses following the killing of its leader Yahya Sinwar as the Israeli military has released new drone video capturing the final moments of the terrorist's life. Footage taken of a wounded Sinwar shows him throwing a wooden board at a drone that was surveying damage inside of a building that the Israel Defense Forces targeted in Rafah, according to IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari. Sinwar was later found dead with a gun and nearly 11,000 in his possession, he added. "Yes it's very painful and distressing to lose beloved people, especially extraordinary leaders like ours, but what we are sure of is that we are eventually victorious; this is the outcome for all people who fought for their liberty," senior Hamas official Basem Naim said Friday. "It seems that Israel believes that killing our leaders means the end of our movement and the struggle of the Palestinian people. They can believe what they want, and this is not the first time they said that," he continued.

Japan calls for heightened security measures after drone video of warship posted on Chinese social media
Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich has the latest on the countries' alliance amid Chinese tensions on'Special Report.' Japan's defense chief Friday called for the bolstering of its anti-drone capability after a drone footage posted on Chinese social media showed a Japanese aircraft carrier docked at a restricted navy port west of Tokyo. Defense Minister Minoru Kihara called it a serious security threat. Kihara's acknowledgement of the vulnerability comes more than a month after a video filmed by a drone showed JS Izumo, one of two Japanese helicopter carriers, being retrofitted to carry stealth fighters to strengthen Japan's counter-strike capability in the face of China's assertive military actions in the Indo-Pacific. The footage, also showing plants, buildings and other facility at the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's Yokosuka naval base was posted on a Chinese social media site in March, prompting investigation by ministry officials.

Rittenhouse lawyers ask judge to declare mistrial over video
Defence lawyers in the Wisconsin murder trial of Kyle Rittenhouse said on Wednesday they would ask for a mistrial because of a dispute with prosecutors over video evidence, as the jury watched footage of his shootings at protests last year. Rittenhouse, 18, is charged with killing Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and attempted homicide in the wounding of Gaige Grosskreutz, 28, during a chaotic night in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on August 25, 2020. The protests that night – marred by arson, rioting and looting – followed the police shooting of a Black man, Jacob Blake, who was left paralyzed from the waist down. Rittenhouse has pleaded not guilty. At issue in the trial is a drone video that shows Rosenbaum chasing Rittenhouse in the parking lot of a used-car dealership and the teenager turning and opening fire with his semi-automatic rifle as Rosenbaum gets close to him.

WATCH LIVE: Drone video shows first shooting by Rittenhouse as trial continues - Day 6
The jury at Kyle Rittenhouse's murder trial Tuesday watched drone video that showed Rittenhouse wheeling around and shooting Joseph Rosenbaum at close range during a night of turbulent protests on the streets of Kenosha. The video, zoomed in and slowed down by a forensic imaging specialist, was played as the prosecution's case appeared to be winding down after a week of testimony in which some of its own witnesses often bolstered Rittenhouse's claim of self-defense. The footage showed Rosenbaum following Rittenhouse before Rittenhouse suddenly spins around and fires his rifle at him. Rosenbaum falls, and Rittenhouse runs around a car. Dr. Doug Kelley, a forensic pathologist with the Milwaukee County medical examiner's office, said Rosenbaum was shot by someone who was within 4 feet of him.

Hurricane Sally destruction along Alabama coast seen in drone video
New drone video captured the mess Hurricane Sally left behind on Alabama's coastline after tearing through early Wednesday morning with 105 mph winds, torrential rainfall and a powerful storm surge. The storm tore apart buildings, hurled boats and debris around, and dumped as much as 30 inches of rain in southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle before downgrading to a tropical storm Wednesday. It continued to weaken to a post-tropical depression Thursday as it moved northeast. The wall of a residential high-rise building was sheared completely off in the storm, leaving multiple levels exposed, the video shows. Sally tore through bedrooms and furniture, leaving dresser drawers open and bedding unraveled, the video shows.

Alabama tornado devastation seen in drone video, as search ongoing for victims in rubble
Raw video: The storms have left 23 dead, three of which were reported to be children. Search and rescue teams in Alabama are using dogs and heat-detecting drones to search for victims of the deadly tornado that tore through the southeastern part of the state, as new drone video and photos show the scale of the devastation. Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said Monday at least 23 people were killed and 90 were injured when the giant EF4 twister with 170 mph winds hit the rural community of Beauregard, and dozens are still missing. The tornado impacted what the sheriff described as a rural area that had a lot of mobile homes and manufactured-type housing. The twister created a debris field that spread over hundreds of yards, according to Jones, with some debris being thrown a half-mile away.

How to Shoot the Best Aerial Footage With Your Drone: DJI, Yuneec
From swooping landscapes to the most dramatic selfie vids ever, a drone can capture it all. These tips will help make your footage extra fly. The first setting to adjust is frame rate: 30 frames per second looks like reality TV, while 24 fps looks like a Hollywood feature--set it to 24. You typically want to shoot in 4K, which will capture the tiniest details and give you flexibility to crop the frame while editing. For action shots, opt for 1080p at 60 or even 120 fps, so you can slow down the footage later.
Google retreating from military AI project after 'rebellion' by company workers: reports
SAN FRANCISCO – Google workers Friday got word that the internet titan will retreat from a deal to help the U.S. military use artificial intelligence to analyze drone video, according to reports. The collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense was said to have sparked rebellion inside the California-based company. An internal petition calling for Google to stay out of "the business of war" garnered thousands of signatures, and some workers reportedly quit to protest a collaboration with the military. The New York Times and the tech news website Gizmodo cited unnamed sources as saying a Google's cloud team executive told employees on Friday that the company will not seek to renew the controversial contract after it expires next year. The contract was reported to be worth less than $10 million to Google but was thought to have potential to lead to more lucrative technology collaborations with the military.

Parrot app automatically edits your drone videos
Drone videos can be spectacular, but editing them? Not so much -- don't be surprised if you spend hours cutting 10 minutes of footage into something worth watching. Parrot thinks there's a better way. Algorithms study the drone's behavior and produce videos up to 3 minutes in length based on a handful of criteria, including the style (chronological, cinematic or trailer), pre-made themes and other existing footage. The biggest dilemma may be choosing your soundtrack.
